Kinu Coffee
M47 Classic Hand Grinder
A stainless steel hand grinder with a 47 mm Black Fusion coated conical burr. The bean funnel and the magnetic grinds catch are stainless steel. Two grip parts are ABS plastic.
Good to know: The thumb stopper and crank handle are ABS plastic, and neither touches coffee. The beans funnel, body and grinds catch cup are stainless steel. Stock at Prima comes and goes. The Simplicity and Phoenix versions use an ABS funnel and catch cup, so pick the Classic.
Why we picked it
Kinu builds the M47 Classic in Germany and Romania around a 47 mm conical burr with its Black Fusion coating. Prima's spec table puts stainless steel on the body, the beans funnel and the grinds catch cup, and the catch cup holds on with magnets. Kinu does use plastic in two places. The thumb stopper and the crank handle are ABS, and neither one touches coffee. Adjustment is stepless, with 50 marks per turn, and Prima says it grinds fine enough for espresso and Turkish coffee. It costs $349. Buy the Classic over the Simplicity or the Phoenix, which swap in ABS for the funnel and the cup.
