Plastic-free water, coffee and carry

Bottled water is the headline microplastics story. Filtered tap plus a good bottle is the single clearest swap you can make.

Bottled water is the most clearly measured microplastics problem of all: a litre holds around 240,000 plastic particles, and people who drink only bottled water take in roughly 90,000 a year versus about 4,000 from tap. Filtering your tap water and carrying it is the highest-confidence swap on the whole site, and it pays for itself within weeks.

Filtered tap beats bottled

A stainless gravity filter or a glass filter pitcher removes microplastics, PFAS and more, with no plastic housing and no electricity. If your water is hard, boiling it before filtering removes even more of the smallest particles.

Carry your own

An insulated stainless bottle and a glass-and-cork travel cup mean you are never reaching for single-use plastic, whether you are at the gym, the office or the café. A good bottle keeps drinks cold all day, so there is no reason to buy bottled.

Skip the single-use extras

A collapsible metal straw, a packable reusable tote and a bamboo travel-cutlery set handle the rest of the on-the-go plastic, and they tuck into a bag so you actually have them when you need them.

Common questions

Does filtering tap water actually remove microplastics?
Quality filters do. Gravity and carbon-block filters capture microplastics along with many other contaminants, and boiling hard water before filtering removes even more of the smallest nanoplastics.
Is bottled water really worse than tap?
By the numbers, yes. A litre of bottled water averages around 240,000 plastic particles, and bottled-only drinkers ingest roughly 90,000 a year versus about 4,000 for people who drink filtered tap.
Stainless or glass bottle?
Both keep plastic off your drink. Stainless is lighter and near-indestructible for daily carry and travel, while glass is the most inert if you mostly drink at a desk.
